Front-End Web Developer (3487)

Morton Consulting is in the process of seeking qualified candidates for a Front-End Web Developer opening in Sunderland, Vermont.  Our customer's eCommerce Team is searching for a mid-to-senior level Front End Web Developer to join their IT group where the objective of this role is to bridge the art of design with the craft of programming. This position reports directly to the Director of eCommerce and will interface with information technology, user experience, content creation, digital marketing, merchandising, operations, customer care and retail associates, and with external consulting teams.



  • Translation of UI/UX design wireframes to code that renders visual elements of the web application. 
  • Collaborate with the product owner, scrum master and fellow developers to prototype and deliver progressively enhanced, responsive web applications for mobile, tablet and desktop browsers using modern front end web development tools, libraries, integrations and components. 
  • Develop new user-facing features
  • Build reusable components and libraries
  • Solve user interaction problems and ensure the feasibility of UI/UX designs
  • Shape and validate user inputs
  • Optimize applications for perceived and actual performance, and scalability
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
  • Contribute to a stable, high performing web property



  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or relevant field
  • 5+ years’ experience web development with a demonstrable focus on front-end skills
  • Up-to-the-moment knowledge of front-end web development, and an “always learning” ethic
  • Ability to work independently, with strong team collaboration experience
  • Ability to provide on call support of assigned applications
  • Proficiency with:
    • Essential web markup, including HTML5, CSS3
    • JavaScript and jQuery
    • Front end / CSS frameworks, in particular Bootstrap
    • jQuery frameworks, such as RequireJS and Modernizr
    • Server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS, SASS, Grunt, Node.js and Bower
    • JavaScript libraries and frameworks, such as Angular, Ember, Knockout, React
    • Cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to solve for them
    • Asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX
    • Code versioning tools, such as Git / SVN / TFS
  • Demonstrated familiarity with:
    • Pattern libraries
    • RESTful services and APIs  
    • Responsive web design with media queries and progressive enhancement
    • Ideally, familiarity with ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET Core MVC, SignalR / SignalR Core
