Morton Consulting is interviewing qualified candidates in consideration for a Network Engineer opening with one of our Commonwealth of Virginia customers in Newport News, Virginia.The selected resource will be responsible for installing networking technologies and supporting networks.
Responsibilities:
- Assesses existing network configurations and makes recommendations based on product specifications.
- 4 to 7 years of experience supporting, installing, administering, and configuring networking technologies.
- Expert understanding of internetworking theory, including network performance and security design in a large and complex LAN/WAN, with multiple constituencies having different operational requirements and access needs
- Administration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of networking devices including routers, firewalls, intrusion prevention layer 2 and layer 3 switches, single and multi-mode fiber-optics, and various server and workstation networking devices
- Knowledge of network performance and security issues, including network segmentation, firewall configuration, risk analysis and mitigation, access policy development, intrusion prevention, and performance analysis and response.
- Ability to self-train as network design issues are revealed; ability to learn new networking techniques quickly; ability to write technical documentation
- Ensures implementation efforts do not compromise systems or services.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field of study
- Experience configuring Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches
- Experience with single and multi-mode fiber optics
- Experience with Enterasys switches
- Experience configuring Aruba Wireless Access Points
