Morton Consulting is assisting a customer in filling a Senior QA Analyst / Test Lead role in Glen Allen, Virginia. This is a potential contract-to-hire opportunity where the selected resource would report to the QA Director and act as the Test Lead for release efforts while developing test plans and strategies and providing testing expertise to the testing group.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring requirements are clear, trace back to business requirements, are testable, and are properly maintained in Quality Center.
- Interact with business analysts, developers, end users across multiple workstreams to review requirements and dependencies to prepare test cases and test execution.
- Monitor and comply with standards and Best Practices for Software QA.
- Implement improvements in test methods and strategies.
- Develop test plans and strategies and provides testing expertise to the testing group.
- Ability to discuss and/or train testers on general testing techniques.
- Create test plans and test cases which map back to business requirements
- Create test cases which cover positive and negative tests as well as multiple scenarios for functional tests.
- Gathers metrics in the form of defect counts, test pass rates, and other meaningful data.
- Defects found and close rates by week, normalized against level of effort
- Number of tests planned, run, passed by week
- Schedule estimates vs. actuals
- Major and minor requirements changes
- Support the project manager in defining tasks, efforts, and durations for assigned projects.
- Assist with test execution where needed.
- Identify opportunities for test automation and work with QTP resource to implement automation opportunities
Qualifications:
- 5+ years’ experience with mid-size project testing efforts
- 3+ years’ experience gathering requirements for automation and performance testing
- Proven experience testing vendor delivered solutions
- Experience translating requirements into application test cases
- Utilization of one or more test automation tools
- Solid knowledge of current Testing/QA methodologies, best practices, and toolsets
- Experience with following requirements through a requirements traceability matrix (RTM)
- Ability to analyze information and break down complex problems
- Ability to perform independent research, utilizing team member input as necessary
- Energetic self-starter, with desire to work in a dynamic fast-paced environment
- Ability to confirm objectives and drive them according to plan with a minimum oversight
- Ability to multi-task and adjust priorities when situation requires
- Excellent verbal and written communication
