Technology Awards Gala in Richmond, Virginia

Last week, the Morton Consulting team attended the 19th annual Technology Awards Gala hosted by RichTech in Richmond, Virginia.  The event is known as the “Academy Awards” of Technology and this year RichTech saw its highest attendance with over 700 thought leaders, innovators, and experts in the technology community in Richmond, Virginia.  The event was held at the Richmond Marriott and started off with a networking reception, ending with an amazing program to celebrate some of the region’s top performers and leaders.  This was a high value event where we all enjoyed networking, catching up, and celebrating with impressive customers, partners, and employees.

Robby and his team at RichTech did an outstanding job organizing this event with great speakers and presenters who engaged the audience and made this an action-packed event.  The “Academy Awards” of Technology featured seven different awards in the following categories – Innovation in Development, Innovation in Utilization, Technology Builder, Emerging Company, Innovation in Education, Innovation in Community and the People’s Choice Award.  RichTech and the awards committee put together an impressive list of nominees so I’m sure the judges had their work cut out for them in determining the recipients for each award.  Some of the winners include Richmond SPCA, PlanG, Tridium, Virginia Information Technology Agency, AMC Technology, Unboxed Technology, and Proxios.

With two Award Gala’s in the Commonwealth of Virginia behind us, we can say with confidence that Virginia is attracting innovative leaders, top-level technical talent, and organizations / corporations with laser focus on leveraging technology.  In my ten years of experience in this space, I’m not sure I’ve ever been as excited as I am now to see what the future holds for our growing community in Richmond and throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.  When you consider all of the exciting things taking place in our region, we should all ask ourselves, “What can we do to contribute?”  What new innovations, technologies, methodologies, or leadership will be featured next year in the “Academy Awards of Technology” or TechNite?  What steps should we all take to be recognized next year as a top innovator or leader in this region?
